FAQ

  • Can I use more than one sensor a day?

Only one sensor can be used for a day. This will mean that you have reached your daily UV exposure limit as defined by the guidelines.

  • My skin colour is darker then the colour matching tile, can I still use the sensor?

Yes! The sensor works quickest for the lighter skin types. Although, someone with light skin can't use the packs for darker skin types.

  • What does it mean when the running figure turns blue?

It means that your sensor is detecting UV light but you have not yet reached your daily limit. You will have reached your daily limit when the running figure turns dusty pink/brown.

  • How much sunscreen should I put over the sensor?

Use the same amount of sunscreen as you use on the rest of your exposed skin. Websites such as the Cancer Council provide helpful advice around the use of sunscreen and how to best look after your skin whilst out in the sun.

  • What are the different skin tones?

The Fitzpatrick skin type classification shows 6 different types. Darker skinned people have a higher level of melanin pigment.

Type I     Pale white skin, blue/green eyes, blonde/red hair

Type II    Fair skin, blue eyes

     Type III   Darker white skin

     Type IV    Lighter brown skin

     Type V     Brown skin

Type VI    Dark brown or black skin

  • Is the colour change reversible?

No, the colour change is permanent.

  • Can the LIVD Sun safe sensor be used in winter?

Yes, it can be used all year round. On low UV days the sensor will take longer to change colour. Winter sports such as snow skiing often mean exposing yourself to a lot of reflected UV radiation off the snow.

  • There are two sensors in the strip, do I use one or two?

You only need to use one sensor.
